New York car crash leaves woman critically injured

A police investigation is still underway to determine the details surrounding a recent accident in New York. To varying degrees of severity, two people were injured in the car crash between their two vehicles. The accident occurred on the afternoon of Saturday, March 4 in Copiague.

A 39-year-old woman was traveling south when she attempted to make a left onto Bethpage Road. A northbound car struck her vehicle, and the woman was subsequently ejected from her car. A police helicopter transported her to Stony Brook University Hospital.

The 33-year-old male whose car struck her vehicle remained at the scene of the accident. He was taken via ambulance to a different hospital, where he was treated for injuries that were not considered a threat to his life. The woman, however, was still in critical condition as per latest reports.

While the accident remains under investigation and could turn up additional evidence, no criminal charges have been filed so far. Once the evidence has been reviewed, a New York attorney with experience in similar car accident cases will be able to offer advice about the viability of a personal injury claim. If negligence becomes apparent on the part of either driver, the other would have grounds for pursuing compensation through the civil justice system. A successful lawsuit could mean a monetary judgment that a victim injured in a serious accident would typically need to help pay medical bills, time missed at work and any other losses incurred in the aftermath of the car crash.
