An accident left a bicyclist with a fatal injury and traumatized others who were at the scene. The fatal accident was between a bike and fuel truck on a New York street. The unfortunate incident unfolded around 7:30 a.m. on a Tuesday morning.

The 27-year-old woman was on a bike heading to work. She was traveling north in a bike lane. A fuel truck came along and was heading in the same direction and then turned left at an intersection. The bicyclist was struck and somehow got pulled under the fuel truck.

A passenger in the fuel truck, who is also the son of the driver, thought another vehicle was hit when a loud boom was heard. He said he was traumatized to discover it was a person who was hit by the truck. The woman suffered serious head trauma from being stuck under the wheels of the truck. She was pronounce dead after arriving at a hospital for treatment of her injuries.

The driver of the truck, a 52-year-old man, was taken into custody. He faces several charges, one of which is failure to yield. The family of the fatal accident victim may have legal recourse in a New York civil court as this case may be pursued as a wrongful death suit after the criminal charges unfold. If successful, the family left behind could find that a monetary settlement helps them deal with the financial losses this devastating accident undoubtedly handed them as they also try to recover from the emotional turmoil it caused.
