A car accident caused by any kind of projectile can cause devastating results if that projectile hits another vehicle. Recently on a New York parkway, a tire came off one vehicle and careened over the median and hit another vehicle in the other lane of traffic. The ensuing car accident left two people in the other vehicle injured.
The accident happened on a Friday afternoon in Queens. A Mazda was heading west. There was a 27-year-old woman inside with a 15-month-old baby. The tire of the Mazda came off and flew over a median and into the lanes of oncoming traffic. The tire went through the windshield of a Toyota.
There were two people inside in the Toyota when it was hit by the tire. A 62-year-old inside sustained a shoulder injury. A 63-year-old incurred head trauma that was described as severe. The driver of the Mazda and the baby were transported to a hospital but were expected to be all right. The road was closed for a while as authorities investigated the car accident.
The two people injured by the flying tire in this car accident may have to deal with mounting medical bills, lost wages and other financial ramifications as they recover from injuries. In New York, victims can pursue civil action in a court. If the pursuit of damages in a New York civil court is successful, the victims may garner monetary damages that could alleviate the strain and uncertainty of the financial consequences of being a car accident victim.
