When there is a multi-vehicle crash on an expressway, it can be a difficult scene for both rescuers and investigators charged with deciphering what occurred. The scene can be complex as debris may make it difficult to get to victims in a timely manner. A recent car accident on a New York expressway created a complex and dangerous scene, particularly when it came to one motorist.
The incident unfolded on a Thursday morning. It started when a tow truck was stopped and helping a disabled vehicle. A minivan came along and hit the tow truck. Then, a Toyota hit the minivan. Another truck then came and hit the Toyota.
The Toyota was essentially crushed. Rescuers on the scene were amazed there was a survivor trapped in the crushed Toyota. Despite perilous surroundings, the rescuers worked for 45 minutes to dismantle the vehicle piece by piece and free the motorist who was remarkably speaking with rescuers from inside the mangled mess. His legs were crushed and he was reported to be in critical condition. The roadway needed to be shut down during the aftermath of this car accident.
Investigators may be able to figure out who is liable for the multi-vehicle car accident. Once liability is established, the man who was injured in this devastating car accident may be able to pursue legal action in a New York civil court. A personal injury suit may be beneficial in situations such as this as the victim may be able to recoup medical costs, lost wages and other financial losses related to the accident.
