Failure to yield leads to car accident in New York

When a traffic violation leads to a collision, the consequences can be devastating. A recent car accident on a New York roadway has been cited as being caused by the failure to yield by one driver. The car accident resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.

On a Wednesday afternoon, a motorcycle was headed south on an upstate roadway. The motorcycle was driven by a 21-year-old man. A 67-year-old man was driving a camper and was headed north. The camper was in the midst of making a left hand turn onto another road when the collision between the camper and the motorcycle took place.

The motorcyclist hit the passenger side of the turning vehicle. He was transported via helicopter to a medical facility for treatment of unspecified injuries. However despite medical treatment, the motorcyclist died as a result of those injuries. The camper driver and a passenger were uninjured in the crash. He was cited for failure to yield, and the tragic incident is still under investigation.

Regardless of the status of any traffic citations or possible criminal consequences related to this car accident, the family of the deceased motorcyclist may have cause to take legal action. They may be able to successfully pursue a wrongful death suit in a New York civil court. Any monetary damages that a family is awarded in a wrongful death case may be beneficial as that family deals medical bills, the effects of lost wages and funeral costs related to losing a loved one unexpectedly.
