Highways can be a dangerous route to take as the sheer volume of traffic can increase the likelihood of a car accident. When a car accident occurs on a New York highway, and there are several vehicles involved, that car accident can turn tragic. One recent accident on a busy New York highway took the lives of two and left another person with injuries.
The details are still being deciphered after the Friday morning accident. As of now, it is believed a vehicle was heading north and crossed over into the south lanes of the highway. This led to a collision involving two box trucks, a tractor trailer and another vehicle. It was not yet reported which vehicle crossed the lanes of traffic and caused the wreck.
The two victims who lost their lives were said to be in one of the box trucks. The victim who suffered injuries was in one of the other vehicles. The accident caused significant delays on one side of the highway. It reportedly led to a 10-mile traffic backup.
Once an investigation outlines exactly what vehicle was responsible for the car accident, the injured party or the family of both or one of the victims who lost his or her life may have cause to seek damages in a New York civil court. A civil court could award monetary damages that would prove to be a significant help to victims or victims’ families as they deal with the monetary strain of a car accident. This monetary strain can include medical bills, lost wages or funeral costs.
