Unusual car crash leaves several injured in New York

On Behalf of | Jun 2, 2015 | Car Accidents

Most people assume they are safe from involvement in any type of car accident while in a store or other place of business. For customers of a New York store, being inside the establishment and off the streets was not enough to shield them from becoming embroiled in a car crash. While the customers were shopping, a vehicle came crashing through the Flushing business.

Around 6 p.m. on a recent Tuesday, customers were inside a Queens Pathmark as an SUV came crashing through the establishment. The unexpected event resulted in a number of people being injured at the scene. In all, five people were injured as a result of the accident. One of those injured was reported to be in serious condition.

A portion of the store’s ceiling also collapsed as a result of the SUV’s collision. There is currently an investigation into why the vehicle crashed through the Pathmark store. So far, no word as to whether or not charges have been filed.

Those who were injured in this unfortunate car accident may have significant medical bills with which to deal. They may also have injuries that require on-going treatment that can add up financially, impact their health for years to come and also prevent those individuals from returning to work. The injured parties may be able to pursue damages in a New York civil court if they choose to do so. If successful, those monetary damages may help those injured parties deal with the expenses that they incurred from being in the store at the time of the car crash.
