Deadly New York car accident being investigated by authorities

On Behalf of | Feb 24, 2015 | Car Accidents

Whenever there is a collision on the road, the police may need to investigate the scene to determine exactly what happened and who or what was responsible for the crash. One recent car accident in New York is being investigated after the injuries turned fatal for one of the two people involved. The two-car accident happened on a road in Oswego County, New York.

The car accident happened on a mid-February afternoon as a 28-year-old man was driving south. The man was driving a pickup truck at the time. Another vehicle, a sedan, was headed west on a nearby road. Presumably, the pickup truck collided with the sedan at the intersection of the two roads.

The driver of the sedan was transported to a medical facility after the accident. Despite the attempts to save his life that were made at the hospital, the man was pronounced dead. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured in the car accident. There is currently an investigation into the accident being carried out by local authorities.

The police may or may not determine the exact cause of the fatal car accident, and charges may or may not be filed. Regardless of whether criminal charges are filed, families that have lost loved one’s in accidents they believe were caused by negligent drivers may choose to pursue wrongful death claims. A wrongful death suit in New York, if successful, may yield compensation for surviving family members. Those family members may find the compensation useful as they deal with the financial consequences of their loss.
